November 19th, 2016. Kathmandu, capital city of Nepal. With more than 1,000,000 inhabitants, the WordPress community hosts 5,000 members in this city, which makes it a very good place for a WordCamp. The first ever WordCamp held in Kathmandu’s name was attended by 250 people. Shekhar Bhandari, one of our WPML supporters, joined as a volunteer and has shared his impressions with us

“This was my second time at a WordCamp. The first one was WordCamp Nepal 2015, where I participated as an attendee. This time I wanted to do something more so I enrolled as a volunteer. I really wanted to be an organizer but my city, Biratnagar, is 700 km away – much too far. Being a volunteer I only needed to be there 1 or 2 days before the event. I assisted a blind speaker and it was a great experience!

“We are planning to create a community nearby, moving away from the capital to the smaller cities, perhaps joining 2 or 3 cities together. When we achieve this, I see myself helping as an organizer. I would like to have the experience and I have learned a lot from being a volunteer.”
