OTGS December News

December 23, 2021

As December brought holiday spirit around the globe we turned to upcoming releases. January will bring a major WordPress 5.9 release so we’re making sure our plugins work perfectly with it and its new features. We also continued working with our partners across the board.

WPML News

We are still rolling out WPML 4.5 version to our clients. After the holidays, we’ll be expanding it to 10% of the sites running WPML.

At the start of December, we had another minor release of WPML 4.5.2 which fixes some minor but important issues.

We are currently testing WPML with the upcoming WordPress 5.9 release. This major WordPress release will introduce a big new feature called Full Site Editing. It allows users to design templates for displaying content on the front-end. This includes templates for single-posts and templates for archive pages.

WordPress 5.9 is currently slated for release on January 25th and we’re making sure WPML is fully compatible with it on time.

Toolset News

In Toolset, we’re also testing our plugins for the upcoming WordPress 5.9 release. This release introduces significant updates to the block editor which is important as Toolset relies on it. This is why we are making sure everything looks and works properly.

Compatibility News

Being December, some of our major integration projects have been put on pause as companies begin to slow down as the new year approaches. However, we certainly have not slowed down on our marketing efforts this month.

Blocksy has confirmed full compatibility with WPML, and since they are a proactive team who also did some work with us on Toolset we have decided to list them as one of our recommended Lightweight Multipurpose themes. They completed all necessary steps and are working on a dedicated WPML video.

We have a new hosting partner in Templ who also wrote a useful article about performance tips for creating a speedy multilingual site with WPML. Speaking of hosting companies, the popular EU-based hosting company Ionos also recommended WPML in their article about creating multilingual WordPress sites

Finally, our friends at WPExplorer posted our guest post covering why and how to automatically translate your WordPress site, while WebTNG recommended Toolset in this article about Full Site Editing and Custom Post Types.

While we enjoy all these wonderful mentions, we will certainly pick up on a number of key integration projects in the new year as we continue to keep WPML and Toolset compatible with some of the most important plugins and themes on the market.

Happy Holidays!

Last but definitely not least, we wish you happy holidays! May 2022 be wonderful, peaceful, and successful!
