AI Translation with Context and Confidence – Q3 2025 Highlights

Every great translation starts with understanding language, tone, and context. This quarter, we put that understanding into practice. WPML 4.8 added context-aware AI, PTC unlocked new possibilities for developers localizing software, and Toolset became faster.

WPML 4.8 Levels Up Translation Quality

August brought one of our most important updates yet: WPML 4.8.

This release officially introduced PTC (Private Translation Cloud) — our translation technology previously known as WPML AI. 

The rebrand reflects its growth from a translation engine into an AI translation system that now powers both WordPress sites and standalone software localization projects.

But the name wasn’t the only upgrade. WPML 4.8 introduced several improvements that redefine AI translation for WordPress users:

  • Context-aware AI translation: PTC analyzes the entire site to better understand how content fits together. The result? Translations that sound natural in every language and on every page.
  • Translation Quality Guarantee: PTC’s AI translations come with a quality commitment — site owners who aren’t satisfied receive a refund.
  • A Simplified Glossary: Site owners only need to add terms unique to their brand or industry. PTC already recognizes millions of common terms, and it now understands intent. This makes glossary management faster, easier, and more accurate.

PTC Evolves to Support More File Formats and Translation Workflows

PTC (Private Translation Cloud) continues to evolve as a standalone platform for software localization. In recent months, we expanded PTC’s developer documentation to support a wider range of workflows and file types.

Performance and Compatibility Upgrades for Toolset Sites

In Q3 2025, Toolset received two updates that improved both performance and compatibility.

  • Toolset 1.6.20 (July 2025) introduced major performance improvements for multilingual sites built with Toolset and WPML. By optimizing background loading processes, page load times on multilingual sites improved by up to 70%.
  • Toolset 1.6.21 (September 2025) added support for Google’s new Autocomplete API and introduced marker clustering for OpenStreetMap, making custom map views faster and easier to navigate.

Together, these updates make Toolset-powered sites more responsive, reliable, and user-friendly.

Partners Help Deliver Better AI Translation Experiences

September was a month of collaboration.
