December 2023 – Wrapping Up a Year of Innovation and Community Connections

December 21, 2023

As 2023 draws to a close, join us in reflecting on a year filled with awards, powerful product updates, and community connections that contributed to the exciting and evolving world of multilingual WordPress solutions.

WPML Shines with Gold at WP Awards 2023

Our flagship product, WPML (WordPress Multilingual), clinched gold in the “Content & Output Tools” category at the WP Awards 2023.

We’re proud of recognitions like this and we couldn’t have done it without our clients. Being recognized for our efforts in making WPML a standout plugin fuels our passion to achieve even more. We’re already hard at work and brimming with excitement for the updates and improvements we’re planning for the next year!

WPML 4.6.8 and WooCommerce Multilingual 5.3: Enhancing User Experience

The latest updates to WPML and WooCommerce Multilingual keep the needs of clients at the forefront and focus on providing a better user experience.

WPML 4.6.8 marked another step forward with an enhanced way to review translations of content in languages hidden from the site’s front-end. This version also introduced a smarter approach to managing translations, defaulting to the native WordPress editor for specific translation types. With these updates, translating a website becomes easier, allowing site owners to focus on what matters most – delivering quality content to global audiences.

WooCommerce Multilingual 5.3 is now fully compatible with High Performance Order Storage, a new WooCommerce feature that brings faster order processing and a better checkout flow. This version also enhanced compatibility with WooCommerce add-ons and came packed with various performance improvements to give site visitors a seamless, efficient online shopping experience.

Shining the Spotlight on Collaboration & User Management Tools

We recently wrapped up our campaign focused on collaboration & user management tools, specifically those working on multilingual sites. With Phase 3 of WordPress focusing on this area and still in the works, we thought it’d be helpful to share some current tools that get the job done.

Our approach involved hands-on collaboration with several partners, testing their solutions alongside WPML. As a result of some great cooperation, we’re now pleased to recommend Atarim, Multicollab, and WP Project Manager. We’ve proudly added these tools and plugins to our newly created Collaboration & User Management category in our compatibility directory.

To give you a better overview of how these tools and plugins can fit into your workflow, we put together a blog post with the best collaboration and user management plugins for WordPress.

Introducing Our New Plugin Recommendations

In other partnership news, we’re excited to introduce three new plugin recommendations this month. ConvertPro, Advanced Dynamic Pricing for WooCommerce, and All-In-One Video Gallery have been rigorously tested for compatibility, ensuring a smooth integration on your WPML-powered setup.

A big thanks to the plugin authors, who have shown great commitment to ensuring their products work seamlessly and benefit our mutual clients.

Strengthening Connections at WordCamp Madrid 2023

WordCamp Madrid 2023 stood out as one of the largest WordCamps in Europe, drawing over 600 attendees. This gathering was a lively illustration of the WordPress community’s growth in Spain.

A few members from our team had the fantastic opportunity to attend and host a booth at WordCamp Madrid 2023. It was more than just a chance to showcase WPML – it was about connecting, having fun, and really getting to know the people who use our product.

For a team that works remotely, these face-to-face interactions are priceless. We shared laughs, swapped stories, and engaged in meaningful discussions about WPML and its future.

We can’t wait to use the new perspectives and ideas to further enhance WPML!

Making Waves in the Media

The OTGS leadership team made notable appearances in the media, spreading the word about WPML’s vision, capabilities, and exciting upcoming projects that are set to make a major impact.

Our CEO, Amir Helzer, shared his insights on cross-border e-commerce in an in-depth interview with Authority Magazine. Meanwhile, our CCO, Amit Kvint, featured on the Spanish ‘Club WordPress’ podcast, available on Spotify, discussing the future of WordPress and multilingual content.

These appearances highlight our ongoing efforts to influence and shape the conversation about the importance of multilingual solutions in the WordPress community.

Looking Back, Leaping Forward

As we prepare to end a remarkable year, we’re grateful for the progress we’ve made and the partnerships we’ve established. We’re already excited for what 2024 has in store.

Here’s to continuing our journey of innovation and multilingual excellence in the coming year!
